In the case of the great turtle, its hunt looks like a collision with a natural habitat. Terns live in the tropical island of Frégate, which is a tropical island with many forests. But on the ground are other animals, such as lizards and crabs. This means that at the bottom of the forest is the lava of any chick that has not been able to escape from danger. Instinctively, the bird flutters its wings in a straight line. What seems to be an injustice is dangerous for the tortoise. He has a strong bullet to protect his body, but his eyes are visible. Gerlach states: “They do not like the things that come close to them. “They are very careful about this – they are the only ones who are at risk. So the tortoise is in danger. ”Losing an eye and surviving can be very difficult – losing two and soon dying.
This is not an easy meal, then, and it just doesn’t take chances. The tortoise is hunting to see if he knows what he is doing, says Gerlach, who is helping the chick until it reaches the edge of the log and the birds’ instincts tell him not to give up.
But is the tortoise diet system well equipped to transport animals? Gerlach states: “No one has ever seen such a thing. “They don’t eat meat – why would you have trouble looking?”
However, since loads of spoils are common in animals, it is thought that they should produce amino acids and salts in animals. Other than that, he says, protein is easy to dig into. “Growing food on plants is hard to change,” he says, because plants are made of solid materials like cellulose.
The plight of one chick is a blessing in disguise for the entire island of Frégate, says Gregory Pauly, treasurer of the Natural History Museum in Los Angeles County, who did not participate in the new paper. It means that the birds have returned, and the turtles are very happy to take advantage of it. “Population and bird populations in the region have declined due to habitat destruction, brought in species such as rats and large animals, as well as human abuse,” he wrote in an email to WIRED. “As a result, the opportunity to witness such abductions as described above was not realized until recently when the birds have multiplied in an effort to restore habitat.”
