Ryanair plans to enroll 2,000 pilots over the next three years, one of the strongest aviation operators since the outbreak began.
Employment also adds to the group of 5,000 pilots at Europe’s largest airline. The goal is to increase the annual population by more than half to three years before the epidemic.
“We are excited to begin preparing for a return to growth in the coming years as we experience the Covid-19 crisis and become 200m guests by 2024,” said Darrell Hughes, Ryanair’s director of operations.
In May last year, the company warned that it would have to cut 3,000 jobs but said it had survived the loss of its pilots during the epidemic. Some carpenters have lost their jobs.
However, its pilots agreed to a 20% reduction in their salaries, which would be returned to the original level within four years.
Ryanair said more pilots are needed to use their new Boeing 737 Max jet – the first shipment of more than 210 arrived last month. The new aircraft should help the company reduce fuel consumption, emissions and cost savings.
Ryanair will begin training pilots this year, in order to be ready to fly by summer tomorrow.
What they sell in aircraft and their partners differs from other industry challenges. As of April, more than 18,000 pilot jobs have been threatened or completely lost during the epidemic, according to the European Cockpit Association.
Ryanair bet you on the extra costs that can be had when you reduce your sea travel. Chief executive Michael O’Leary thinks his rivals will not achieve this, predicting a 20% drop in short seats available in Europe in the next few years.
