‘Romeo and Juliet’ Want More Zombies

For the past three decades Scott Edelman has published a series of fewer than a dozen articles that pay homage to well-known scholars, including John Steinbeck, Edgar Allan Poe, and Ray Bradbury. Edelman recently picked up the articles in the book Tell me what you used to do.
“I have enough information, I feel, that it was made to be collected to honor all those who encouraged me,” said Edelman in Section 476 of Geek design in Galaxy Podcast. “I’m happy to thank the people who have been there before and for helping me to make it.”
The longest story in the book is “The Plague on All Your Homes,” a zombie story written in an iambic pentameter. “I drive from home International Convention in Nashville, and all of a sudden the first lines came up to me, and I thought, ‘Yep, The Night of the Dead and Romeo and Juliet, where a zombie kid and a human being fall in love, ”said Edelman. It was a lot of fun to write. ”
Unfortunately the 50-page game of zombies became difficult to sell to editors. “Someone was making a zombie story, and I thought, ‘Oh, this is so good,’ and I sent it, and the answer was, ‘I don’t like Shakespeare,'” Edelman says. “So that has nothing to do with the story, or if I drew it right. , or if there was poetry in the language. It was just, ‘We don’t like Shakespeare.’ ”
Edelman later published the article as his first and foremost self-published work. “I put it together as a Halloween card for a year, and sent it to all my friends, as it was printed in Mammoth’s book Best New Horror, based on the publication, was eventually nominated for the Bram Stoker Award, ”said Edelman. “Stories have a unique way of spreading and understanding, so I just tell people, ‘Don’t worry if it takes a while for things to have the right audience.’

Scott Edelman on his “Fifth Dimension”:
“It’s good that I wrote to him Twilight Place magazine — which at the time was publishing an article directing events Twilight Region-And I write, ‘Gee, you left this part, and that part, and this very good part,’ and the editor says, ‘This is not really the case. I think you are making things up. ‘It’s back and forth, and it turns out that my TV is taking a story from the fifth side, that Rod Serling he would have moved on and made some better parts. The most important thing in this regard is that the editor, Ted Klein, should be run by Carol Serling, Rod Serling’s widow – because once you include such an article in a magazine that deals with Serling’s title deed, you want to make sure the widow enjoys it and is respected – and that Carol Serling said, ‘No, I love this story. He treated Rod Serling in a very positive way and ‘it made me very happy.’
Scott Edelman pa Raymond Carver:
“He started writing a lot of science fiction. I changed Fictional Years of Science , I advised Barry Malzberg say ‘Hey, do you realize this? Why not write a science fiction novel as if it were written by Raymond Carver? ‘, Which he wrote, and was published in Fictional Years of Science long ago. But I would kill to read one of Raymond Carver’s writings whose purpose was to be a science fiction novel. We do not know why he did not pay attention to science fiction. His first wife said, ‘Oh, he finally lost interest in small green notes.’ But is it that he could not sell them, and say, ‘Oh, this is stupid’? Or as soon as he enters John Gardnerwriting class, did he think it was under him? We don’t really know her boyfriend, but it would be nice to go back and find some of them. ”
Scott Edelman on the change Fictional Years of Science:
“My wife was looking for a job. He looked in Washington Post, and there were commercials there, under the ‘Editor,’ seeking ‘a temporary editor to edit a science fiction magazine.’ And I said, ‘Oh, I can do that.’ I’ve completely changed some magazines in the past — my career started as an editor at a Marvel toy show. I wrote them a very disgusting letter that everyone wrote to try to get a job, because I feel I have a responsibility in the field for doing good things – there are a lot of lesser-known scientific journals, or science fiction magazines that harass the section, harass writers and artists who use it. I just said, ‘The question is not whether you can write me, but the question is can I help you change this magazine.’ And it must have made them happy. ”
Scott Edelman on his podcast Eating Fun:
“I was once called a Anthony Bourdain science fiction, because when I go to a science fiction conference, I explore the town that the conference is deep, because I don’t want to waste time on hotel meals, and I run away with other guests and go to all the best restaurants around town. And when I was a guest on the podcast, and all of a sudden I realized, ‘Wait, you mean the staff can have creative ways? Can I make a podcast and just post it right there and Apple distribute it to everyone? ‘And I thought,’ What am I going to be? ‘ Because I didn’t want to be another podcast. So I said, ‘I’m going to eat with people. I will list these foods. You come with me to listen to the discussions I have with various people. ‘And I’ve been doing this for over five years now. ”
