Robinhood is revealed that it experienced a security breach on November 3, which revealed more about 7 million users or about one-third of users. The perpetrator, the financial company said, had obtained the email addresses of 5 million people and the full names of various groups of about 2 million customers. In addition, the intruder managed to steal the personal information of 310 users, including their name, date of birth and zip code. More account information was revealed to 10 customers out of 310.
No Social Security numbers, bank numbers or credit card numbers were disclosed at the event, Robinhood said, but still discloses the details to the affected customers. The company, which allows users to create idle transactions with crypto, said it already had a conspiracy. After cutting off the robber’s opportunity, the assailant demanded payment of the stolen goods and threatened what he would do with the information if he was not paid.
A Robinhood spokesman said Bloomberg that it was not a ransomware attack, but also declined to say whether he paid – and if so, how much money changed hands. It also said it had notified law enforcement officials of the breach and had contacted Mandiant security company to investigate the incident. Charles Carmakal, CTO of Mandiant, said Bloomberg that this may be just the beginning of several violations.
