After an impressive career with trophies and honors, Tom Brady is leaving the NFL, according to US reports.
Tom Brady is retiring from the NFL after an unprecedented career where he won seven Super Bowls and posted more records, according to his Twitter account and several US reports.
44-year-old Brady goes after leading the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to the Super Bowl title last season and NFC South competition this season.
Brady’s TB12sports Twitter account read: “7 Super Bowl Rings. 5 Super Bowl MVPs. 3 League MVP Awards. 22 Seasons. Thank you for all that, @TomBrady.”
ESPN also reported Brady’s respite on Saturday, citing unknown sources.
Brady expressed the desire to spend more time with his wife and children despite still playing at the top of his game. He led the NFL in yards (5,316), touchdowns (43), finished (485) and tries (719), but the Buccaneers lost at home to the Los Angeles Rams last Sunday in the quarterfinals.
Brady won six Super Bowls with the New England Patriots in 20 years playing for coach Bill Belichick. He joined the Buccaneers in 2020 and led them to the second title of the Super Bowl in franchise history.
Brady leaves the game as a career leader in passing yards (84,520) and touchdowns (624). He is the only player to have won more than five Super Bowls and was the most important player (MVP) in the game five times.
Known as the greatest player in the game, Brady won three NFL MVP awards, was the first All-Pro team three times and was selected to be the Pro Bowl 15 times. He was 243-73 in his career in the regular season and 35-12 in the playoffs.
