Boris Johnson faces stiff opposition at a Downing Street Lockdown field party

Boris Johnson was on Tuesday charged after it was revealed he had attended a party “come with your beer” in Downing Street garden in May 2020 when the meetings were banned.

Edward Argar, the health minister, was sent to protect the Prime Minister, but declined to confirm reports that Johnson had taken part in the ceremony, when England was first detained by Covid-19.

Instead, Argar insisted that the party, organized by Johnson’s secret chief of staff, Martin Reynolds, would be part of the investigation into such meetings by Prime Minister Sue Gray.

Johnson also declined to say whether he had agreed to the party, to which about 100 Downing Street employees had been invited, or to confirm the account accounts he and his wife Carrie had attended.

The silent wall from No. 10 sparked a public debate and Mr. Johnson is now facing a press conference and political pressure to report what happened at the event on May 202020.

Sir Keir Starmer, leader of the Labor Party, wrote on Twitter: “Boris Johnson, your distortions and distortions are absurd.

Baroness Ruth Davidson, a former Tory leader in Scotland, wrote that Johnson’s defense “will not last 48 hours”.

“No one needs an elder to tell them if they were in a shindig in their own field. The people are (rightly) angry. They gave so much – visiting sick or grieving relatives, funerals. What did some of these people think?”

The disclosure of an email from Reynolds to staff at Downing Street, obtained by ITV News, has further highlighted the party’s cultural analysis of Downing Street through the Covid epidemic and reopened questions about Johnson’s leadership.

In his email, Reynolds appealed to staff to “benefit from the good weather and drink a long drink in the No. 10 garden tonight”, and asked them to “bring your own beer”.

The Met has previously stated that, if a Gray-led cabinet investigation into Downing Street parties reveals any evidence, it will be investigated.

Argar said he could understand why people were “angry, upset and frustrated with the prediction” but said the country was waiting for Gray’s investigation to find out what had happened.

“Sue Gray, a civil servant with a reputation for excellence in justice, will look without fear or favor in all cases of party affiliation or crime and I think it is important for her to have the space and the right to do so,” he said.

The revelations will disrupt Tory’s MP, who hopes to open a new page in 2022; many say Johnson has until local elections on May 5 to prove he can change things and change his system of government.

Angela Rayner, vice president of Labor, has been given the go-ahead to ask an urgent question at the House of Commons on Tuesday, “to ask the Prime Minister if he can comment on what happened at Downing Street Garden on May 20. 2020”.

Under the rules of parliament Johnson should not appear. But he faces challenges Wednesday in the Prime Minister’s question, as Starmer will compile a statement against Johnson on the Covid party.
