I purchased a John Deere riding mower in 2019. Nice mower. To have it serviced it cost $ 400 just to pick it up and bring it back to me plus the cost of servicing it of course.
Early last summer the deck belt snapped and luckily the only mower place here in town was able to put a new belt on. Later in the summer some debris got into the gas line and the mower shop refused to work on my mower. The guy that owns the little shop told the mechanic to tell me they would from then on out only work on mowers they sell. I decided to do the repair myself. Just to note, I am a senior lady.
I watched a couple of videos on what the problem might be and how to fix it. I bought a new gas filter, drained out all the oil just in case. Used my air compressor to gently blow out anything that might have been in line. Put in new oil, new filter, started up the mower and it blew out a shit ton of white smoke. After the smoke cleared however, the mower ran fine.
The kicker of this is, just last month I received an email from John Deere and was told that my mower has been under warranty. When I replied with the information about the money I paid out having my mower serviced and repaired, the lady told me it shouldn’t have cost me anything.
