Panasonic’s GH5 II upgrade enhances 4K video and enhances integration

To my surprise no one (come out, yo) Panasonic has unveiled the GH5 II, a refreshing version of its hero GH5 video and vlogging camera. The new model has the same body and 20.3-megapixel sensor as before, but it adds new graphics, better stability, live options and much more. It came at a time when Panasonic announced the next growth of the Micro Four Thirds, GH6.

A new requirement for video users is the addition of 10-bit 4: 2: 0 60p 4K / C4K (seedless) internal video, as well as non-V-LogL payroll. And unlike the GH5, the GH5 II can be shot in the same way it instantly output 10-bit 4: 2: 2 60p 4K / C4K to the external recorder. It also adds 10-bit 4K anamorphic shooting from 30 to 60 fps. However, there is no indication of the recording of ProRes RAW on the GH5 II, although Panasonic only released its version on the GH5 via the firmware program.

Buyers are able to download 35 versions of V-LogL LUTs for free, getting a different look without the need to type. As And GH5s, GH5 II comes with the goal of making V-LogL monitoring easier. If you prefer a shot that can be used instantly, it offers two types of Cinel sprays to repair the skin, enhance contrast, and much more.

Another important factor is the change in Dual IS 2 optical image stabilization (OIS). Whereas the GH5 offers five-dimensional shrinkage, the GH5 II recommends a 6.5 stand with whether the lenses have OIS or not, while allowing it to be mounted on an OIS glass telephoto cloud.

Panasonic has perfected the GH5 II’s video capabilities, promising the visibility of a face-to-face interface and better performance when the face is tilted (which is also available on GH5s via update firmware, Before I forget). It can detect human bodies, look at the face in groups and trace the head so that the head is straight when turned. It also offers animal tracking that works with many species of animals and other species of wildlife. On the graphic side, it can follow small courses well and resume quickly if it loses its head.

The new model comes with a standard 1,840K light, compared to the GH5’s 1,620K model, while the 3.68 million EVF drop is unchanged. It also retains the same two UHS II cards as the old model, but Panasonic has increased the speed of the V90 (300 MB / s) from the previous V60.

The GH5 II uses a new 2,200 mAh DMW-BLK22 battery powered by the S5 camera, which allows for slow-motion shooting on the final model when using the EVF, or about two hours of viewing time. Unlike the S5, however, you can still use your GH5 batteries in the GH5 II. If you have enough time to shoot videos, the new USB-C PD port supports faster charging and power transfer, although you may need a 9V 3A charger that can have at least 27W.

Panasonic also added an AR-enabled fire-retardant device, while increasing power by one-third of the GH5’s precision in space and clouds. Some of the new graphics / animations include preferences that can make your interest easier, a live-night view composite interface (coming after the firmware app) and new shooting functions combined with red and blue icons when recording or assembling.

In terms of, one of the most important features of the GH5 II is the temporary release. You can set the camera to run directly on wired or WiFi connections up to 1080p, no need for a PC. Panasonic promises to “simplify” WiFi download on YouTube, Facebook, Twitch and other apps using the Lumix Sync smartphone app.

PC users can transfer preferences from a Mac or Windows 10 computer to an SD card, connect the GH5 II with a router and track from the camera. It will also provide USB suspension via 4G / 5G phone URL and IP transfer with RTP / RTSP clocks.

Some Panasonic supporters were disappointed when the GH5 II came out, believing it had replaced GH5. Announcing the 5.7K GH6, Panasonic has confirmed that the best camera is coming down – while the GH5 II is supposed to be a way to register vloggers, photographers and broadcasters. The GH5 II is now available for a pre-order $ 1,700 (body only) or $ 2,300 in a kit with an H-ES 12-60mm f / 2.8-4 lens.
