An estimated 142,000 new diseases every day are recorded in the country while politicians speak at rallies in the upcoming elections.
India has reported 141,986 new daily cases of COVID-19 – most since the end of May – while Omicron coronavirus has found Delta in major cities.
The health ministry on Saturday also said 285 people had died, bringing the total population to 483,463 and the total number of illnesses stood at 35.37 million.
Coronavirus cases caused by the Omicron-infectious species are passing through India, prompting the federal and state governments to impose several sanctions.
