Not even worth list price: gadgets

maybe they were thinking that there needs to be some cards available & that are at or close to the MSRP.

Manufacture of 6500 cards isn’t going to adversely affect the manufacturing of their other cards, seeing as there is a general shortage and prices of everything including old cards are stupid, there needs to be something that can ease some of the demand issues and seeing as there is a lack of offerings in the actual budget range, having something in the budget range is a good call.

It’s a budget card, with budget performance. Unless you are new and experimenting, you’re not going to even consider using it for content creation, so that part of any review is pointless. Also being a budget card the expectation is that you’re not going to be playing at the highest settings, yet the review has everything set at the highest preset. In the same way that you do not expect a 2 door hatchback to have the same performance as a Porsche on the basis they both have 2 doors.

Comparing the price point to that of an older card, which did not have a supply change shortage and hasn’t been adjusted for inflation is fine, but what price is the 580 now? So yeah, it was cheaper 5 years ago, so was rent & lettuce. It’s not cheaper now, they’re not remotely near the same price point.

Even with the highest max preset, the 3050 doesn’t out perform the 6500 across the board. It’s also supposed to be about 20% more expensive, but if you can find one, it’s substantially more expense, to the point that you may as well spend a fraction more and get the 6600 which does outperform the 3050 across the board. On the 3050, all signs point to it being a very limited run, because it’s production takes away manufacturing capabilities from the bigger cards and the only reason Nvidia launched it is so that they can point at it and say they have a card that was similarly priced (MSRP for their card, because of the limited run there won’t be any new ones for actual sale) but better.

But hey. it’s all greed and complacency, it’s also why they’re releasing a new flagship card that doesn’t have an MSRP and no early reviews because that way, it’ll be able to sell for a much higher price point well only being marginally faster than the existing top card. Aawww crap, my bad, that’s Nvidia doing that. Silly me.
