Netflix is ​​starting to outline viewing statistics on its biggest likes

Netflix will regularly release its own watch numbers high-end software and movies, a major change in strategy for an advertising company that has carefully protected its data over the past decade.

The company said it would report weekly the number of hours people watched its top 10 TV shows, on English and non-English headlines, including Netflix startups and content from other people.

In a preliminary release of Tuesday’s show numbers, Netflix said subscribers last week spent 149m hours watching. Red Notification, an action film starring Gal Gadot, which makes it one of the most popular in English on the platform.

Inside the radio show, the most English-language show was the third season of Narcos: Mexico, recording 50m viewing hours. Squid game was a well-known non-English radio show, which aired 43m hours last week on November 14th.

Ever since Netflix jumped into the original stuff with Card House in 2013, the company has concealed the very details of each program. Netflix does not run ads, which is why the company should not talk about votes to attract people as much as the radio broadcasters do.

In the past, Netflix has also reported how many subscribers have watched the first two minutes of the program. The television screen, usually provided by Nielsen, measures people who watch for about one minute of the show.

Box office sales and Nielsen movie screenings – a traditional Hollywood ritual – do not work on Netflix, making it difficult to know what success means streaming. Often, even the actors and producers are unaware of the popularity of their film, much to the chagrin of the entertainment industry.

John Landgraf, head of FX, a pay-per-view channel on Disney TV, in 2019 criticized Netflix for its covert activities. “When you take hundreds of bats, you get single, some double and run home,” Landgraf said. “And failure to describe a single stroke reduces the correct perception of their beating and misrepresents the magnitude of their beating.”

Netflix has been looking for more visibility, but in particular it has chosen the numbers it releases to brag about its huge hit.

While this will change under the new reporting system, Netflix will not be able to show up on TV and video channels. The company will report only 10 of the most successful programs, let alone frustrating ones.

Netflix executives say traditional metrics, such as ratings, are not essential to the flow of business flow. The company’s goal is to attract new subscribers and prevent existing ones from being banned, not to make money from a private program. “Finding out how to measure well on the flow is difficult, and there is no good metric,” said Perez De Rosso.

Netflix partners streaming, such as Disney Plus and HBO Max, have released fewer views than Netflix. Netflix said it hired EY to review its metrics.
