President Biden is receiving updates on Omicron-White House correspondent Reuters

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have been briefed on the latest version of the new Omicron COVID-19, the White House said on Saturday, while Britain, Germany and Italy said they had found charges.

Biden, who spends Thanksgiving with his family in Nantucket, Massachusetts, told reporters Friday, “We don’t know much about the difference other than the fact that it is very worrying, it seems to be spreading rapidly.”

Omicron was first found in South Africa this week, leading countries around the world, including the United States, to impose travel restrictions on southern Africa and seven others in the region.

No Omicron cases have been identified in the United States so far, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Friday. The commission is expected to recognize the change as soon as possible, as it appears in the US

Koma Dr. Anthony Fauci, the country’s leading infectious disease specialist, said on NBC’s “Weekend TODAY” show on Saturday, “I wouldn’t be surprised if it did.”

“When you have a virus that shows this spread and you already have travel-related cases detected in Israel and Belgium and elsewhere, when you have a virus like this, it always goes everywhere,” said Fauci.

The vice-president told reporters on Saturday that officials should take “one part at a time,” when asked about other travel restrictions. “So far we have done what we think is important,” Harris said.

The White House said health officials and their COVID team have been monitoring the latest developments at Omicron and have been in regular contact with health officials around the world.
