Microsoft is expanding its Airband internet connection in major cities

Through Microsoft has been working to block digital distribution over the past four years by expanding broadband connections in the US. But reliable, affordable internet is not always available in cities, either. The company is now looking at rural areas and expanding its Airband program to Atlanta, Cleveland, Detroit, Los Angeles, Milwaukee, New York City, El Paso and Memphis.

Although excessive construction is available in these cities, reaching many will not be possible due to procurement and equipment. That leaves “access to the basic necessities of life for millions of people,” as Airband general manager Vickie Robinson puts it . The issue is “critical to black, African American, Latinx and Spanish groups,” Robinson wrote.

In addition to lowering the cost of internet access, Microsoft is planning to offer free or low-cost tools that are designed to help people in isolated areas in the seven cities to access the Internet. It will also provide tools and resources to help people learn or develop digital skills. The company is working with various partners to support this, including People PCs and DigitalC.

One of the tools Microsoft is using to block digital sharing is a program to help people with low interest rates or credit history who are ISP customers with low-cost customers. They will be able to buy Above Go 2 and Office for Home and Student $ 22 per month. This has opened in Los Angeles and New York City, and Microsoft will bring in six more cities in the coming months.

Airband expansion into cities is part of Microsoft’s Racial Equity Initiative. The company last summer was aimed at tackling discrimination and injustice against black and African Americans in the US.

At present, trials are underway in the federal and state governments as well . President Biden’s In addition to the broadband expansion of California ambassador Gavin Newsom’s had a $ 7 billion Broadband project.
