Microsoft is launching 2022 with flashback to Y2K complex. Relaxing Computer reports company release temporary repair of an error that disrupted sending emails to Exchange Servers 2016 and 2019 on New Year’s Day. As users realized, Exchange was trying to keep the color checks of its antivirus recording engine in 32-bit colors – a big problem where every day from January 1, 2022 onwards was a huge one. New checks caused the malware engine to crash and leave the email in line.
Emergency fixes use the PowerShell script to stop two tasks, replacing old antivirus files with new ones that use new numbers, and restart operations. This preparation requires manual manipulation and can take a long time to implement in large companies, but the only way to come is to grow.
This should not apply to other Exchange clients. The timing is also good because the holiday season probably reduces the need for email. IT executives may not want to launch 2022 servers, however, and it is not clear why Microsoft did not foresee the problem with the software released a few years ago. No matter what they think, this is like a clear study of bed bugs in modern times.
