Intel Core i7-12800H CPU outperforms Apple M1 Max in a new benchmark: hardware

When you are using more energy it just needs to be cooler! What a partnership!

I’m not saying I like the way Apple announced the chips (as they do per watt) because it deliberately misleads them to look like they can do better, not just do more with less power. I mean, that’s the most important thing. Yes, the end of the 12th gen Intel will obviously be better than the M1 max but if it needs twice as much power and cooling to do it 10% is the right sale? In the desktop, either. However in the laptop, where the M1 Max lives here, it probably isn’t. Cold and low power consumption means lack of cooler (which can be smaller and quieter) and better battery life which the M1 machine has proven to be amazing.

So, yes, sim is not surprised that it can affect high performance but if the value is not large enough what you lose in cooling and battery performance can be confusing.
