Instagram is adding new anti-violence tools to crack down on DMs who are violent

Instagram is adding new features to prevent harassment in direct messages. These updates include new ways to filter email requests, as well as close user locks on multiple accounts.

Updates come after Instagram fortified his comments on the harassment and direct messages of football players in the UK after speaking racist messages they received in the program. The company said that at the time, preventing harassment in direct communications was difficult because the company uses tools similar to how it operates in its own terms.

Now, Instagram gives users unlimited access to the individual user, but “quickly” closes any accounts they can. This can help people who are constantly being monitored by the same people, or who don’t want the person to be able to access them with a new account. (Instagram also states that its rules prohibit banned users from creating new accounts.)

The app also adds a new tool to prevent bullying in “text messages,” inclusive emails from people you don’t follow. Instagram is adding a new tool, which allows users to hide their own request for messages “containing annoying words, phrases and emojis.” The company is said to be working with anti-bullying agencies to obtain a list of banned words, although users can also add their own words to the list.

Instagram has been repeatedly pressured to do more to protect its app. The program is currently under review with a view to making its work more accessible to less than 13 children. Democratic lawmakers recently published Facebook incorporates child protection measures, and both members have questioned whether the development company is doing enough to protect its users.
