India sees many daily occurrences, deaths
India has announced 360,960 new cases of coronavirus – the largest outbreak since the outbreak last year – and the total number of cases is now about 18 million, according to a study by the Ministry of Health.
The country has killed 3,293 people in the last 24 hours. This was the first time that more than 3,000 people were dying every day.
The total number of deaths in India at 201,187 is now left with the figures in the United States, Brazil and Mexico.
Vaccination is open to all adults
India on Wednesday opened the registration of the COVID-19 vaccine for all officials. From May 1, all Indians over the age of 18 are eligible to receive a coronavirus shot.

Although the national vaccine for the elderly began in January, less than 2 percent of its population has been vaccinated so far.

The World Health Organization says other types of COVID-19 that are feared to be contributing to the rise in coronavirus cases in India have been found in at least 17 countries.
The UN World Health Organization (WHO) says the B.1.617 virus that was first detected in India has been detected in more than 1,200 units sent to GISAID a global, open database “from at least 17 countries”.
“Most of the channels were shipped from India, the United Kingdom, the USA and Singapore,” the WHO said in a weekly report.
The WHO recently referred to B.1.617 – which counts a number of lines of varying variations and shapes – as “another interest”. But in the meantime it has ceased to be defined as “other needs”.
Australians in the IPL are ‘worried’ about returning home
Australians participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL) are “worried” about how they will get home from the tournament as the COVID-19 crisis continues in India but they do not want to “ride for free”, the League’s players said.
Three Australian players withdrew from the IPL but two remained in India following Australia’s decision to suspend flights from Asia until May 15. About 40 Australians continue to perform in the IPL as players, coaches, officers and commentators, but Prime Minister Scott A Morrison will not be allowed to jump in line every time the return flights.
The regular IPL season ends on May 23, with the playoffs following the final of May 30.
“As you can imagine, everyone is worried,” Australian Cricketer ‘Association president Todd Greenberg told Sydney 2GB radio. “They are probably in one of the most famous places we have seen since COVID so we are just trying to make sure they are all safe and to keep their promises and … we can take them home as soon as we can.”
