UK Fashion chain Next said the Christmas market was ahead of expectations and predicted a huge profit in the coming year.

Sales of whole prices rose 20 percent in the eight weeks to December 25 more than they had in 2019 before the epidemic began.

The team had previously predicted that sales growth in the last quarter would be about half that level. It also said that the sale of specialty clothing and apparel was very strong.

It now expects tax returns before the £ 822m-year end at the end of January, which is slightly higher in line with the predicted £ 813m. For the year ending January 2023, it predicts a profit of £ 860m. That could be in excess of the £ 836m reported in 2016.

However, it warned that prices would rise to 6 percent indicating the amount of goods and services.
