Lenderking also met in Amman, Jordan, and King Abdullah II as part of US diplomats regional security talks including US efforts to reform Iran in the 2015 nuclear deal with Yemen.
“The Houthis have given a great opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to peace and to advance the request by refusing to meet a special UN envoy at Griffiths in Muscat – mainly because of their desire for the government of the Republic of Yemen to reach an agreement to resolve the conflict,” the US said.
“With the growing international agreement to end the conflict in Yemen without delay, all parties should engage with the UN special envoy and discuss what is on the table, for the people of Yemen.”
