Elon Musk Wants To Build One Of His Foolish Plates In Florida

Fort Lauderdale, Florida has approved a request from Elon Musk’s Boring Company to build a tunnel that can bring people from town to the sea, according to Mayor Dean J. Trantalis in a late tweet Tuesday. And if Musk’s previous experiments are a success, residents of Fort Lauderdale should be prepared for a major disappointment.
“Some companies have 45 days to submit their ideas. This could be a new way of reducing traffic congestion, ”the mayor of Trantalis sent a statement sternly, apparently unaware of Musk’s background.
Musk has completed just one business venture and let’s say nowhere near the first billionaire promises on what he calls “high speed” Loop ”expertise.
Initially, Musk promoted a system that uses autonomous vehicles that can carry up to 16 passengers. The vehicles must travel at a speed of 150 km per hour. It all sounds bright and fresh and fun.
But when Musk made headlines to showcase his experimental approach in Los Angeles at the end of 2018, journalists were disappointed. The task was not the same animation we all saw it during the development and some also compared what happened climbing a dusty road.
How is Musk’s transportation project in Las Vegas faring, as the lone tunneling project he’s gotten off the ground? Sadly, it’s nothing close to autonomous vehicles running at 150 miles per hour. The Vegas loop system is comprised of plain electric cars being driven by humans at 30-40 km per hour. Musk seems to have made the people drive slowly into the tunnel.
What about all the other Musk projects in cities like Chicago? Those were quietly removed from the Boring Company page, despite the large press conferences Musk himself.
“It will take longer to pass security at O’Hare than to go to O’Hare,” Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel said in a press conference in June 2018.
Undoubtedly, this did not happen in Windy City.
Could Fort Lauderdale be another story? It all depends on whether Musk is ready to test three factors that made the first impression the most important: 1) driving independently, 2) speeding around 150 hours per hour, and 3) speeding cars.
Without these advantages, it is not known what kind of request would be made in any city in the world to make one of Musk’s tunnels, let alone a request for a city that insurance companies call a Special Dangers of Flooding. Just ask Houston what its urban canals looks like after a a storm. It’s not good.
