If you’ve ever wanted to see baseball players through them, you’re about to get lucky. T-Mobile is selling its 5G network by offering players in the 2021 Home Run Derby with 5G viewing cameras on their hats, in addition to the cooks. Watch the live race through special T-Mobile page and you can see how they fight and the same derby if you’re on the field, with 5G (hopefully) keeping everything together.
The event kicks off on July 12, starting with 6:30 PM East is the only derby at 8PM. POV cameras are coming back with a new MLB AR mobile app to explore Coors Field in 3D and get detailed statistics. People with 5G phones have also found additional statistics such as plug-in and time-out speeds, though this is just a boost to upgrade your device. You don’t need 5G to get extra numbers.
The video is ‘alone’ in HD, and it is not known which players will have 5G cameras. T-Mobile says it will have three or four helicopter cameras in combat, and then will have two per derby (one for the American League, one for the National League) plus an active camera. If all goes well, you’ll see how it feels with the stars if Shohei Ohtani knocks someone out of the park. Look at it this way – even if the cameras are small, this is one of the few 5G connectors that is not just a fad.
