The new post seems to have a solid foundation. Manyika has spent 28 years in McKinsey, which helps companies and governments (including technical leaders) make decisions based on economic and social factors such as Google hopes to address. He also serves on the boards of research institutes at Harvard, MIT, Oxford, Stanford and other high schools. If anyone knows a lot about technology in the world, it is him.
