U.S. health officials say the high prevalence in the Delta is now affecting more than 80 percent of the new infections in the country, a dramatic increase that has confirmed the rapid spread of the disease.
“[The] The CDC has released various comparisons across the country and predicted Delta reforms now representing 83% of successive cases, “Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, told a Senate health committee on Tuesday.
“Great growth, from 50% on the week of July 3,” he said. In some parts of the country, the prevalence was much higher, especially in areas with lower immunization, he said.
The Delta species, found for the first time in India, have spread rapidly in several countries, including their counterparts the amount of vaccine, along with the US and the UK, alarming health officials are increasingly fearful that sanctions should also be imposed to make it possible.
Late last week, Dr. Vivek Murthy, a senior U.S. physician, warned that many U.S. cities could follow Los Angeles’ lead and reintroduce home appliances, even among people with complete immunizations, to prevent the spread of other Delta species.
Last week, the U.S. killed 239 people a day from Covid-19, an increase of about 48% last week, Walensky said.
He previously warned that the US is facing “pandemic vaccine ” and urgently recurring cases, especially among those who are unable or unwilling to receive the vaccine even in large numbers.
More than 161m Americans are fully vaccinated, representing approximately 48.6% of the U.S. population, according to the CDC. In about two-thirds of states in the U.S., less than 40% of people had received the vaccine, Walensky said Tuesday.
Biden officials have complained that the vaccine is being questioned over allegations in the media and have spoken publicly with Facebook.
“The message from the CDC remains clear: the best way to prevent the spread of Covid-19 strains is to prevent the spread of the disease, and vaccination is the most powerful tool we have,” said Walensky.
Kate Bedingfield, director of the White House, told CNBC On Tuesday they think that TV companies will be held accountable for the scams that are broadcast on their platforms. He also said the White House is “reviewing” Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, which gives television companies protection of what people broadcast on their platforms.
