Citizens, this program which follows local violence and allows you to experience video games, has introduced a new subscription system. Called Protect, it enables users who pay $ 20 per month to connect with the Citizen team of helpers for assistance in case of an emergency.
Tuesday’s update marks a major turning point in the Citizen business, which has so far included sending smartphone notifications of lawsuits and immediate events to users for free. With this paid service, the company is not only looking at the safety of users who earn monthly payments, but it is also promoting the activity that privacy protectionists repeatedly denounce as increasingly common.
Protect works like the Alert Life button on your phone. If you are in danger, the sound just clicks, click the red “Get Agent” button inside the Citizen app, and you will be connected to video clips or chat with the Protect agent. If you need help at the scene, the agent can call the police or other assistants and direct them to where you are. If you have emergency contacts with the installed Citizen app, the agent can contact those people if you are unable to participate or are just too busy to deal with your problem to get rid of it.
The event has been available to select beta testers since early 2021, and today they are starting to use the program so that every Citizen citizen can register.
The new app can hear your screams. Available for Distress Detection subscribers use your cell phone microphone tracking system to feel like it “shows problems,” according to the company – Citizen provides a human-sounding model as an example. Sign of Depression is available on iOS right now, though Citizen says it wants to expand this to other devices in the future.

Citizen reports that somewhere over 100,000 users have tried the service in beta. Last week, Citizen offered me a free Protect job test. In my trial week, it worked as promised. Pressing the Get Agent button at the bottom of the home screen gave me the opportunity to connect with a Protect agent via video chat or chat. In one of my tests, I contacted a Protect assistant named Agent Aaron, who told me that he could see where the device was, battery level, and zero speed, since I was silent. The client also said that if I had connected with Protect and Apple Watch, he would be able to see my heartbeat. A layer of this information can let them know if I am worried or persistent. (Citizen says it doesn’t say anything about health right now.)
On iOS, a Protect Mode setting opens up the phone’s microphone to announce the features. It also opens a interface that allows you to shake the phone to text messages to the agent. All of them worked when I tested them, although it took a bit of a cry for the app to send a warning. In this way, Citizen agents can contact emergency responders and let them know where your phone is. Once there is a valid response, Citizen will also issue a public warning about the identity of Citizen users who are nearby.

Defense is the first citizen to register Citizen, and paid transactions of any kind have been delayed.
