When you move from left to right in this navigation key you will also find the Mutant 1-4 buttons. One click and OLED on the right brings the segments. (Do you see what is happening?) Depending on what Mutator has selected using the upper-left encoder you will see various options here for correction. But for essentials, you simply turn one condom on to choose, say PWM, then the other sets the desired wet / dry price you want.
There are eight Mutators to choose from, but I would like to take a brief look at PW-ASM, or Pulse Width ASM. There are two factors that make pulse fluctuations unique to Hydrasynth. One, you can use it on any wavelength – PWM is often connected to big waves. And two: in ASM mode you can create your own color scheme. PW-ASM breaks the waves into eight phases and calls for a range of fluctuations around each phase. It’s not an easy thing to explain, but suffice it to say I don’t know about other synths out there and this aspect. (If you do, please let me know in the comments.)
At the bottom of the Mutants there is a button that brings up the ring changes and sound parameters, and then when you follow the line that shows the right chain, you see them all eating in the mixer. Here you can play the volume of each oscillator, the ring and sound section, and adjust everything. And this is where you can choose the amount of each you can send to which filter and if the filters are listed or related. This is one of the places with the most pages you can go through, but it is straightforward. Just click the up and down buttons near the display until you see what you want, then turn the point next to it.

After the mixer, you will see the signature branches removed with your envelopes (ENV) at the top, LFOs at the bottom and bottom in the middle of your voice signature, plus filters, amp and effects.
By default ENV 1 and LFO 1 are connected by filters, while ENV 2 and LFO 2 are connected by amp. There is no way to damage the connection between ENV 2 and amp, it says all the time state the volume of your words. This does not mean that you cannot control the number of oscillators separately; it simply means that you have to create skills.
So if you want OSC 2 to come a little after OSC 1 you can use ENV 3 to upgrade it, with a little longer time than ENV 2. To connect to it you can press the mod matrix button up and down. all options. But the easiest way is to hold the ENV 3 button, then press the mix button. Then the two sections will be connected automatically and all you have to do is select the part you want (OSC2CVol in this case) and play it deep. It is also worth noting that Hydrasynth envelopes have six components – delay, attack, seizure, rot, retention and release – as opposed to the well-known ADSR. This means that you can delay the start of the envelope for as long as you press the keys.
Most interesting are the LFOs. Although you can use them to create clearer and clearer filter words, you can also use them as a sequencer. Stairs allow you to create customizable shapes up to 64 steps.
On page 4 of the LFO update, you will find the SemiLock method – this is where the magic happens. Note, Hydrasynth does not have the appropriate sequencer, but you can use LFOs locked in semitones due to the latest firmware. As a result, with less work, OSC 2 can come back to OSC 1 and play music on the pad. This is just one example of how you can use this power. You can follow anything from a filter lever to a wet / dry mix on the voice until the time of detune or glide, or even Mutators sections. This level of control opens up all possibilities.
At the end of the machine chain you have four slots to work with: one pre-fx, one post-fx and a set between them and a dedicated delay with repeat modules. There are several types of the last two types. The return delay is pretty good, and although the plate and hall rotation is solid, the cloud is my favorite place.
The post- and pre-fx sections have the same options to choose from, including phaser, twisting, compression, rotary, tremolo and more. But what I like to stick to at the end of each patch is Lo-Fi. You can turn down the volume sample to hear digital audio recordings and there are a variety of filters to choose from that give you the type of playback over the phone or on the radio. It’s just a good touch to make everything look and feel good.
Here’s the thing: I’m just scratching the surface of what Hydrasynth ends. There are several options in the Word menu to increase depth and temperature, such as the dull analog type. There are awesome arpeggiator skills with eight different modes. There is a large section where you can split several sections into one paknob to change the word clearly. And I did not mention the keyboard with the polyphonic aftertouch – something that was not heard at this price point.

Hydrasynth Explorer, at least under the hood, is less well known by its Hydrasynth Keys counterpart, which destroys almost twice as much. So what are you leaving out here? Well, one Explorer has small keys instead of large ones, but this would not be difficult for some people like me with small hands and limited piano skills. There are no longer proper wheels and mod wheels, instead you get touchstrips; it’s okay, but not right. The main disadvantage is to reduce the number of controls. Filters are reduced from five to three, and there are only four macro / parameters, as opposed to eight on major colors. But honestly, these are small sacrifices to reach this price.
The bottom line is that ASM calls Hydrasynth Explorer “immovable,” but it is the only technically accurate fact. In addition to the integrated AC adapter you can power it with eight AA batteries – not less – for three or four hours. In addition, the Explorer weighs 7.5 pounds and is about 22 inches long. Sure, it is small compared to 22 pounds and 32 inches of Hydrasynth Keys, but this is not something you can throw in a bag and bring it to the park curiously. Although it is easy to throw in the trunk and bring the component part, the ASM does not combine or sell its movement, which impedes its growth.
