California was not ashamed of it need pit oil, and this now involves oil production. Pakale reports that Governor Newsom has he announced It plans to end the oil spill in California by 2045. Authorities are still working on a plan, but the cessation will be through a Climate Change Plan that seeks to produce more greenhouse gases and achieve political neutrality by the same year.
Newsom has started fast, at least. The governor immediately ordered the California Department of Environmental Affairs to refrain from issuing new permits by January 2024.
The move makes California the first state government committed to curbing oil production. Even though 2045 is far away, this represents betting that pure power the trend will increase until oil is not affected by the local economy.
Whether other countries follow it or not is another matter. California was the seventh growth the largest oil producer in the US in 2020, making 145 million barrels, but it was relatively low compared to heavyweights like Texas (1.8 billion), North Dakota (431 million) and New Mexico (379 million). Some countries may be reluctant to complete the oil spill if they blow up more money. While the plans may be good news in nature, their metaphors can go beyond that.
