You probably won’t see it Rocket League games real-world cars anytime soon, but BMW and the esports LVL brand can give you the next thing. They agree Das Race Goal, a Rocket League-Style esports platform with remote-controlled vehicles playing charity football. Players around the world will drive cars on the real court as they capture real powerups and trigger “special effects”.
The first event takes place on December 12 during the 1PM Eastern era and will be shown LVL’s Twitch Channel. The opening tournament will feature six teams of three players competing at the BMW Welt stadium in Munich to raise awareness of funding for the United Nations Population Fund. Lifetime Skills programs, which aim to improve education and health care for young people in the Caribbean and Latin America. Each team will have an esports player (including members from Cloud9, Fnatic, G2 Esports and OG), a TV enthusiast and a young player participating in UN trials.
Thomas Fellger, executive director of the Das Race Goal Partner Icon Group, emphasized that this was not just one trip – it was part of a “long-term agreement” that would support long-term UN humanitarian action. At the very least, this may add to the excitement of real world events in video games that already have loyal fans.
