Washington, DC Attorney General Karl Racine has filed a lawsuit against him Amazon, alleging that the company has raised prices unfairly and illegally control itself. The suit states that Amazon used the agreement to protect other retailers who use the platform from offering their products at a lower price elsewhere, according to CNBC.
“Today, my office has filed a lawsuit against Amazon for abusing their power and self-regulation by regulating prices in the online retailer and violating DC law,” Racine said. wrote on Twitter. Racine said his office “has filed a lawsuit to end Amazon’s unauthorized price targeting in the online retail market.”
In addition to seeking to restrict the company from using non-pricing laws to combat competition, the suit seeks sanctions against Amazon. Racine is also looking to reverse the damage.
