After four seasons, ‘Finding’ doesn’t want to be a “regular” Star Trek

The result is a bit confusing for the first part of the fourth season of ‘Star Trek: Find. ‘

Since its re-launch in 2017 (and before that, really), Star Trek: Find it has been a divisive phenomenon. There was a long list of complaints: the list is very black, everyone is cruel, everyone is crying a lot, Klingon form sucks, it should not be established in the first list, Michael Burnham is a suspicious person. Although some changes have been made to the show over the years to make it easier for him to move on, Michael Burnham’s rise to captaincy for the fourth season has shown that. Discover it still acts on its own, regardless of what the fandom thinks.

In the past, the fourth season of Star Trek the series has been a time of transition, a time when the show reflects what it wants to be. The fourth season of The Next Generation began with the hit single “The Best of Both Worlds,” and produced several high-profile hits such as “Family,” “Clues” and “The Drumhead.” Deep Space Nine added Worf to his staff in his fourth year, right Voyager I found Seven out of nine. CompaniesThe final season is often considered the best time. That’s why fans were curious to see if the model would continue during Kurtzman’s Trek era.

Things looked good at the end of last season. Staff to Discover had jumped 900 years ahead, to a galaxy where dilithium-rich oil was scarce and the Federation was devastated by an event called “The Burn.” Burnham and all the rest Discover co-workers found out where the tragedy took place and resolved the crisis late last year, and opened the doors of protest that were set in rebuilding the Federation and its goals. After three seasons of war, it finally looked like USS Discovery managed to get down to what Starfleet had previously written for science and research.

The fourth term begins five months after the previous session, and the Federation now has advanced equipment to reach former members and allies. That’s where we join USS Discovery, as Burnham and Cleveland Booker are trying to give the dilithium a new kind to Star Trek audience. The task is quickly interrupted, remembering the opening of the madcap Star Trek into Darkness.

The similarities with the weak points of the three films of the Abrams era are not just coincidence or respect: both. In the dark and this week’s first show was written by the head of Star Trek Alex Kurtzman. They feature some of the latest Trek features such as emphasis on action and critical dialogue – there may be less light this time around. And everyone seems to have a positive attitude, unlike when everyone was tired of the 23rd century and the war and the secret experiments.

The opening of the season is in full swing to show how things are going, with Starfleet Academy being re-established, Booker is on his way to attend his nephew’s arrival and the new president of the Federation is sworn in. Trek is always interesting and its events so it was a good change for the program. But things get worse over time Discover has the task of rescuing the station team and they have to make a number of difficult decisions, hence the title of the section: “Kobayashi Maru.”

For those unfamiliar with Star Trek lore, Kobayashi Maru and the tests that all cadets follow must take at Starfleet Academy. In comparison, the cadet faces the decision to rescue a ship located in enemy territory. Crossing the border to save the ship and putting it in danger of war, but maintaining peace means killing the crew. This is called “no success”, and the Academy is interested in how the cadet deals with it and not the actual results.

Like Kirk, Michael Burnham also does not believe in success. He always does what he thinks is best, and has made his team loyal to him over the past few years. But it makes him a part of the opposition, because Burnham often disobeys the rules and ignores good advice. He’s a rebellious cop who plays with their rules. Other than this is Star Trek, a franchise regarding team work. Michael’s actions – and that he always succeeds – often insult his superiors and co-workers.

Putting him in the captain’s seat would have eased the issue, since Burnham is now the club’s official listener. But even then the protest saw the need for controversy, which led the President of the Federation to question Michael’s verdict in front of his party. I had no choice but to be reminded of how before the show came out, the producers and writers were bragging about how they could break one of Gene Roddenberry’s key rules in the list: There are no factions between parties. Seeing what was going on in this episode, however, was a bit unpleasant and a little embarrassing to see.

Not everything is perfect at the end of the tour, but with better results than we have seen at the end of most Star Trek tours. But the existing “joy” is being thrown away at home with the problem at the end of the session. As we have seen in the case, this can be very stressful all the time USS Discovery and the Federation as a whole – not as a threat to life, but as a threat to the Federation’s efforts to get themselves back together.

Unfortunately, this also means that Discover will not be doing much in its fourth season. Fans who love the “planet of the week” tours and expect the show to coincide with the genre will be disappointed in the meantime. However, while the first and second phases are concerned with the development of the ongoing disruptive line, the third and fourth phases still provide an opportunity for other visual events, even those designed to promote human development.

But time Discover does not seem to be the orderly change in the way things are done, the environment has changed. It is no longer the only Star Trek show on TV, thanks to the original movies Picard and Downhill in 2020, last month’s baby show Prodigy is the first public appearance Amazing New Worlds next year. Both shows control the Star Trek environment in their own way, and you do not need to watch to understand what is going on in other games (although there are some of Picard in the first sections a Discover). Viewers can choose the Trek that suits them best, and remove the pressure Discover being all things to all fans and making it easy to do its own thing.
