A Hong Kong man has died after being stabbed by a police officer and then committing suicide in a city security operation claiming he was “just a wolf terrorist”, when the Chinese Communist Party celebrated its 100th anniversary.

The attack on Thursday evening, which left the officer in a state of shock, took place despite heavy security at the Asian financial center to prevent any protests.

“I strongly condemn this kind of violence,” said Hong Kong chief Carrie Lam. “These qualities are reflected in the stability of our values.”
