Franz Reichelt-AKA “The Flying Tailor” – born in Austria tailor lived in France in the early 1900’s, and he is credited with being a pioneer in a parachute suit it does not look like a parachute and as … well, a wire bed. I mean, just look at this thing. It’s not a tool that screams “tough,” but it didn’t stop Reichelt from trying. first jump from EiffEl Tower in early February for 1912.
Instead, he was so confident of the jump that he called it quits he pressured them to photograph what he had done while working. Needless to say, it did not go as planned: Reichelt fell from the platform, suit and everything, and smashed his skull, spine, and a few other large bones as he hit the ground, dying almost instantly.
