7-Eleven and Nuro begin shipping autonomous vehicles to California

[ad_1]

7-eleven has agreed with Nuro based on self-driving cars in Mountain View, California. Residents can order through 7Now the app and AV can bring the items their place.

Shipping will not hurt any customers. Available from 8AM to 9PM PT daily, with companies saying orders should arrive within 30 minutes. When the AV arrives, customers pick up their items from the back. There are some shortcomings. You will not be able to order age-restricted items – such as alcohol, tobacco or lottery tickets – for unsolicited shipping.

Initially Nuro will use self-propelled Priuses and a human pilot who oversees the technology from the pilot seat. Finally, R2 Nuro Robot, which have been making shipments to other countries, will bring 7-Eleven orders to a customer door in Mountain View, where the company is located.

This is the first AV import project in California, according to Nuro. The state DMV issued the first Nuro California Autonomous Vehicle Deployment Permit Last December.
