Former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad she is in a stable condition after being admitted to the cardiology hospital for the third time in just a few weeks, according to her daughter.

A 96-year-old boy has been receiving treatment at the National Heart Institute in Kuala Lumpur for the past two days, Marina Mahathir said.

Journalists arrived at the hospital on Saturday when word spread that Mahathir had been re-admitted, and then Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob visited him again.

In a statement, her daughter said she was receiving the following treatment after undergoing surgery at the same place about two weeks ago.

“Her condition is now stable and she has been receiving treatment,” he said.

Her family “is asking people to pray for her to get well,” he said.

Mahathir also spent several days in hospital in December for tests.

She has had a number of heart problems for many years, has had heart attacks several times and has undergone surgery.

Mahathir is one of the most famous political figures in Malaysia, having twice served as prime minister for a total of 24 years.

He was a leader from 1981 to 2003, and returned in 2018 at the age of 92, leading a reorganization alliance after a massive 1MDB scandal.

But the regime collapsed in 2020 due to disputes.
