Snapchat adds TikTok music lenses like AR

Snap has signed a music licensing agreement with Sony Music Entertainment. The agreement means that Snapchat users will be able to access music from Sony artists. With today’s announcement, the company has licensed licenses and all major music labels. And Snap is planning to take advantage of the event by launching new AR filters.

Sometime “soon,” the company says it will release songs that will feature pre-selected songs that are in the filter. Plus, they’ll be the ones that let you look like you’re singing a song and another set that adds you and your partner to a music video. In short, Snapchat is like TikTok and Instagram. You will know that you are about to add new filters if there is music near it.

You do not have to look far to see why Snap is doing this. From introducing the Sounds form last year, the company claims that users made more than 1.2 billion videos, which leads to about 77 billion views. In other words, the music has been very good at Snapchat events.
