The country is responding to a new government in Israel, the end of Netanyahu | Middle East News

Several world leaders have welcomed the new Israeli government, but the Palestinians remain dissatisfied with what they see as the continuation of previous governments.

The 12-year term of Benjamin Netanyahu’s reign ended on Sunday, and his supervisors were replaced by the coalition government to join center Yair Lapid and Naftali Bennett. In a hate speech between 60-59, the Israeli parliament approved the new government.

The vote was won by Lapid after the end of a memorandum of understanding between eight different parties, other than the desire to overthrow Netanyahu, leaving many experts to question whether the government could have a chance to survive for a while.

This is how world leaders treated the new government:

Joe Biden

U.S. President Joe Biden says the United States has remained committed to Israel’s security operations and will cooperate with their new government. In his remarks, the US President welcomed the new government agreement led by patriot Naftali Bennett and sought to reaffirm the relationship between the US and Israel.

“I look forward to working with Prime Minister Bennett to strengthen all aspects of the close and lasting relationship between our two countries,” Biden said. “Israel has no better partner than the United States.

“The United States continues to work for Israel’s security,” Biden said. “My government is committed to working with the new Israeli government to promote security, stability, and peace for Israel, Palestine, and the people throughout the region.”

Angela Merkel

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has said she hopes to “work together” with Israel’s new Prime Minister.

“Germany and Israel are connected by a special relationship that we want to strengthen. With this in mind, I look forward to working with you,” Merkel said in a message to Bennett and spoke to Ulrike Demmer on Twitter.

Mahmoud Abbas

The Office of the President of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas said the change of government remains a matter for Israel and the interests of Palestine remain the same.

“This is an internal situation in Israel,” said Nabil Abu Rudeineh, a spokesman for Abbas. “Our vision has always been clear, what we want is a Palestinian state on the border of 1967 with Jerusalem as its capital,” he added.

Hamas spokesman

Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum stressed that no matter what kind of new leadership, Israel “remains a colonial party”.

“Regardless of the state of affairs in Israel, it does not change the way we view the Zionist movement,” Barhoum said. “It is the work of the colonial party, which we must forcibly refuse to restore our freedom,” he added.

Sebastian Kurz

Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz praised Bennett and Lapid and said he hoped to work with them.

“Austria has committed itself to Israel as a Jewish and democratic state and will continue to represent Israel,” he said on Twitter.

Dominic Raab

The United Kingdom foreign ministry has also praised Bennett and Lapid for forming a government.

In a tweet, Dominic Raab said he hoped to continue the UK-Israeli “partnership on security, trade and climate change, and work together for peace in the region”.

Justin trudeau

Canadian President Justin Trudeau said he hoped to work with Bennett and Lapid “to protect our people and help them as we recover from the global COVID-19 epidemic, and to help all our countries get back on track”.

In a statement, Trudeau said the leaders had “explored ways to strengthen relations between Canada and Israel”, including a bilateral agreement. He also thanked Netanyahu “for his support over the years”.

Chuck Schumer

The leader of the US Senate said he hoped the new government would open up “major” dialogue mechanisms for a two state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

“I urge the Biden Administration to do everything in its power to bring the parties together and to help bring about a two state solution where each side can live together peacefully,” Schumer said.

The ousted Prime Minister of Israel has spoken out on television and promised to return soon.

“Don’t let your spirit fall,” he said on Twitter. “We’ll be back – and faster than you think,” he added.
