NVIDIA’s new AI robotic brain is six times more powerful than its predecessor

NVIDIA has launched the next program of Jetson AGX Xavier, its $ 1,100 AI brain of robots that relaunched in 2018. A new section, called Jetson AGX Orin, has a force five times the size of Xavier, although it has the same shape and can fit into a person’s hands. NVIDIA made Orin a “AI-powered computer” used for robots, autonomous and medical devices, and on the edge of AI applications that may seem impossible at the moment.

The chip maker says Orin is capable of operating at 200 trillion per second. Built on NVIDIA Ampere’s built-in GPU, it features Arm Cortex-A78AE CPUs and comes with in-depth next-generation tutorials and vision accelerators, enabling them to run multiple AI applications. Orin will provide access to the company’s software and equipment users, including the NVIDIA Isaac Sim scalable robotics simulation application, which provides a clear, physically accurate environment where manufacturers can test and refine their AI-powered robots. For users in the medical industry, there is NVIDIA Clara for AI-powered graphics and genomics. And for independent car manufacturers, there is NVIDIA Drive.

The company has not disclosed what Orin will do, but intends to make the Jetson AGX Orin component and building materials available for the first phase of 2022.
