During the video, Chinese tennis player Peng Shaui says he is safe | Issues of Women’s Rights

Peng had been missing from public view since he allegedly insulted former Chinese Deputy Prime Minister Zhang Gaoli on November 2.

Chinese tennis star Peng Shuai filmed a video with the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Thomas Bach, telling him he was OK, according to the IOC, after Western governments showed concern for his health.

Peng had been missing from public view since he allegedly insulted Chinese Deputy Prime Minister Zhang Gaoli on November 2.

Emma Terho from Finland, a member of the IOC Athletics Association, and Chinese IOC member Li Lingwei were also on the 30-minute trip.

“I was relieved to see that Peng Shuai was doing well, which was our biggest concern. He seemed very relaxed. I helped him and we kept in touch whenever he wanted, which he obviously appreciates,” Terho said in a statement.

Peng went missing after saying on Chinese TV that Zhang forced her to have sex and later they agreed.

Zhang was a member of the party’s Standing Committee until 2018.

The French Foreign Minister asked Chinese officials to provide further encouragement, citing what the Women’s Tennis Association said the images were “insufficient” evidence.

Players here and former tennis players, including Naomi Osaka, Serena Williams and Billie Jean King, joined in the call to ensure their safety, using the hashtag #WhereIsPengShuai.

Peng’s concerns came as international human rights groups and others called for the boycott of the Winter Olympics in Beijing in February over China’s history of human rights abuses.

The women’s fitness tour has threatened to wipe out China’s affairs unless it is confirmed that the former senior player has been confirmed.

Discussions about Peng’s singing have been removed from Chinese pages.

A government spokesman on Friday denied any wrongdoing. The ruling party’s online filters also prevent many Chinese from accessing foreign social networking sites and much of the world’s news.
