SoftBank says it stopped making its Pepper robots last year

We need to talk about SoftBank’s beautiful humanoid robot Pepper. According to Reuters, the Japan corporation halted the production of robots last year and is reducing the number of robotic businesses in several countries. Obviously, there was no great demand for Pepper, and SoftBank only makes 27,000 units made by Foxconn.

Nikkei he also said Pepper’s production was suspended due to need, but a SoftBank report he spoke denied the company’s killing of robots. “We are planning to resume production if the requirements are met,” the spokesman said.

When Pepper it’s over less than the moment it was released in Japan in 2015, the company only designed 1,000 machines to accommodate customers. Pepper was designed as a social robot that can detect human faces and emotions, so it can communicate with humans. Most of the units that SoftBank manufactures lend to corporate clients, and the company has installed robots in its stores in Japan.

With a price tag of over $ 1,600, Pepper is very affordable for developers and small businesses. Reuterssources say his business suffered from minor setbacks and unreliability. In addition, SoftBank has not been able to provide additional robots, as a cultural dispute between its French business management company and its Tokyo regulators is said to have affected Pepper’s development.

After SoftBank moved to the Whiz cleaning robot, Pepper was removed. The company plans to lay off about half of the 330 French workers in September, Reuters said, and half of the U.S. and British exports have already been cut.
