US: Islamic groups boycott Biden Eid event in Israel helps | Conflicting Issues

Islamic militant groups say they will not ‘have a good conscience’ to take part in the event as the US protects Israel amid Gaza threats.

Prominent Islamist groups in the United States are boycotting an event in the White House on Sunday to celebrate the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr, saying Biden officials “support, abets and justify” Israeli airstrikes in Palestine in Gaza.

“We cannot have a clear conscience to celebrate Eid with the Biden Government as it supports, pursues and justifies the oppression of apartheid in Israel for the innocent men, women and children of Gaza,” said Nihad Awad, executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) in his remarks Saturday.

“President Biden has the political and cultural power to end the violence. We urge him to take a stand for those affected and not for the perpetrators,” Awad said.

CAIR had already encouraged Muslims in the US to participate in the festival, to explain as a “special event”.

But opposition to Biden officials has intensified in recent weeks as violence in Gaza continues, with American lawmakers, Palestinian activists and freedom fighters are urging the US President to to oppress Israel to end his war.
