Thousands of meetings in the US to support Palestineans | Story

Thousands of protesters in Palestine have taken to the streets of Los Angeles, New York, Boston, Philadelphia and other cities across the United States, demanding that Israeli dead eagles land on the Gaza Strip.

In Los Angeles on Saturday, protesters threw placards saying “Free Palestine” blocked cars on the main road, in New York, a large crowd passed through Brooklyn, chanting “Free Palestine, Free” and “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.”

“I came here because I want Palestinian life to be the same as life in Israel and today it is not,” said Emraan Khan, a 35-year-old industrialist in Manhattan, as he hoisted a Palestinian flag at a protest in Brooklyn.

“When you have nuclear weapons and other villagers with stones, it’s clear who’s to blame,” he added.

Alison Zambrano, a 20-year-old student who traveled from Connecticut near the protests, said “Palestinians have a right to freedom and children in Gaza should not be killed”, while Mashhour Ahmad, 73, in Palestine, urged US President Joe Biden to “stop”. helping to kill people “.

“Help the victims, stop being oppressed,” Ahmad said, describing the atrocities committed by Israeli forces against Palestinians as “killings”.

The protesters were outraged by the six days of violence that left 145 Palestinians in Gaza and 10 dead on the Israeli side.

Just hours before the protests, Israel had launched an offensive in Gaza, killing a family of 10 people in a refugee camp and beautifying a building housing the offices of Al Jazeera and The Associated Press.

Israeli and Palestinian leaders have shown no signs of backlash, but Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to continue anger in Gaza “as long as it should”, while Hamas leader Ismail Haniya said, “resistance does not work.”

The US pilgrimage also coincided with the Nakba Day, or what the Palestinians call Catastrophe, commemorating the evacuation of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians during the 1948 Israeli declaration of independence.

In San Francisco, an angry mob chanted and shouted “Palestine will be free”, while a similar incident took place in Boston as protesters marched to the Israeli Consulate in New England, closing down traffic.

In Washington, DC, thousands of protesters marched on the Washington Monument and marched on the National Archives, in Philadelphia, protesters filled Rittenhouse Square in protest of US aid to Israel.

A speaker at a conference in Pittsburgh, meanwhile, called on U.S. lawmakers to determine how Israel could use aid from Washington.

John Hendren of Al Jazeera, a spokesman from Washington, DC, described Saturday evening’s meetings in support of what Palestine did as a “great deal.”

“The opposition wants the US government to crack down on Israel, in order to end the conflict,” Hendren said.

“It was very unconvincing that the policies of Biden’s corporations are not significantly different from the policies of Trump administration or other US agencies over the past few years.”

Amidst the violence and rallies, Biden on Saturday phoned Netanyahu and reiterated “his support for Israeli freedom to protect himself from eagles from Hamas and other terrorist groups in Gaza”.

The US leader also spoke to Palestinian President Abbas and “made a commitment to strengthen the US-Palestinian cause,” the White House added in a tweet.

Phyllis Bennis, a political analyst at the US-based Institute for Policy Study, expressed concern about Biden’s failure to “force Israel to stop the killings in Gaza”.

“This is a clear indication that the US is leading Israel when it is ready to end the war. And Netanyahu has made it clear that he is not ready to end the war,” he told Al Jazeera. U.S. policies, therefore, he said are dangerous.
