BT is negotiating with Discovery for a new partnership

BT has begun a private consultation with US Discovery to form an agreement for its BT Sport business, with a view to opposing the sale of digital television to DAZN sports broadcaster.

The agreement, once finalized, will form a 50/50 agreement with Eurosport UK, Discovery, to give existing BT Sport customers the right to Discovery games and media.

Marc Allera, BT’s chief consumer unit, said: “With the desire to share growth, as well as the integration of our world-class games with Discovery games and entertainment, our customers will benefit from the content.”

Although the deal was due to end last year with DAZN, billionaire Sir Leonard Blavatnik, it was disrupted due to demand for promotional games in the division of the game, as well as disagreements between the parties over long-term security, according to a source. negotiations.

BT has also entered into a long-term agreement with Sky to issue a license beyond 2030. Allera said this “will give our customers choice and flexibility for the next decade”.

The deal was announced when BT recorded the third recession due to a sharp decline in its global operations and businesses.

Costs fell 2 percent to £ 5.4bn while pre-adjusted interest rates, tax and inflation gained 4 percent to £ 2bn in the three months to the end of December, aided by tight cash management.
