India has reported a daily increase in the number of new coronavirus infections, with more than 271,000 cases reported in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, in the United Kingdom, vaccinated travelers will not be asked for a COVID-19 test when they return from vacation from next month, according to the British daily The Times.

Serbia calls Australia’s decision to remove Djokovic “bad”
The Serbian Prime Minister has condemned the Australian “shameful” idea of firing tennis player Novak Djokovic over his decision to reject the COVID-19 vaccine, and the Serbian president has said he should be welcomed into his home country.
A joint ruling by three judges that rejected Djokovic’s appeal against his visa suspension shattered his hopes of winning the 21st Grand Slam at the Australian Open.
“I think the court’s decision is a disgrace … I find it not surprising that we have two separate verdicts in a matter of days,” Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic told reporters in Belgrade.
Thailand claims the first death from the Omicron coronavirus
Thailand has reported its first death from the highly contagious Omicron coronavirus, a health official said Sunday.
The death, an 86-year-old woman from the southern province of Songkhla, came to Thailand after realizing their first Omicron case last month that led to the reintroduction of COVID-19 to foreign tourists.
Health Ministry spokesman Rungrueng Kitphati told Reuters: “The woman is suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.”
Such a death is expected as the country has reported more than 10,000 Omicron cases, he said, adding that Thailand will no longer need any alternative sources of funding.
Djokovic boarded the plane after an Australian court approved a visa ban
Tennis player Novak Djokovic boarded a flight to Dubai, after the Australian Supreme Court ruled in favor of the visa ban on his visa application for a coronavirus vaccine.
The player was seen boarding an Emirates flight from Melbourne just hours after a court ruling.

But Omicron’s potential for expansion has been found in at least five states, prompting cities to adopt measures to curb the spread and threaten to boost economic growth.

The chairman of the UK Conservative is urging Johnson to tackle the working class culture
The chairman of the British Conservative Party has rejected a request for the resignation of Prime Minister Boris Johnson but said he had to deal with a state of affairs that led to a series of staff meetings at his home during the closure of coronaviruses.

COVID-19 deaths increased by 314 to 486,066, the ministry said.

The North Korean train has begun crossing China since the border was closed: Reports
A North Korean cargo ship boarded a Chinese border town on Sunday, where it would be the first time crossing the border since the closure of the anti-coronavirus border began, according to media reports.
North Korea has not reported any cases of COVID-19 and has put in place measures to combat the virus, including border crossings and measures to reduce domestic travel, since the outbreak began in December 2019.
A North Korean freight train crossed the Yalu River railway to reach the Chinese town of Dandong on Sunday, Yonhap News Agency reported, citing several unnamed sources.
Beijing says Omicron’s first case is local
The first Omicron case has been found in the Chinese capital, Beijing, officials said, just weeks before the city participates in the Winter Olympics.
State video video on Saturday said the new COVID virus was identified as Omicron.
The lab test found a “Omicron-type change” in the man, the city’s disease control officer, Pang Xinghuo, told reporters.

Britain will not require COVID testing for travelers with adequate immunization: Report
Vaccinated British travelers could go on vacation next month without testing the COVID-19 test on return, the Times reported.
The Grant Shapps traffic ministry is keen to end the process of testing people with a February break, the report said.

China urges regulators to reduce the effects of COVID curbs on the Lunar New Year
China’s government planner has urged local governments to reduce COVID-19 restrictions on the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday to help increase the number of drinkers, as the proliferation of Omicron species threatens economic growth.
“Local governments need to avoid simplicity, a single growth … the COVID-19 epidemic and measures to improve (during the holiday season) and reduce the impact on human life,” the National Development and Reform Commission said in a statement.
It also noted that low-risk areas in China meet the need for short trips from rural and rural communities, and encouraged the rise of daily activities during the holiday season.
