Silver Line of IPCC Report: We Can Eliminate Methane Now

“Pounds of methane emitted can absorb 100 percent more heat than CO₂ when it starts to come out, ”admits Tianyi Sun, a meteorologist at the Environmental Defense Fund that uses methane. But, he points out, methane disappears rapidly. “It’s only been in the air for about ten years, and it disappears.” Unlike carbon dioxide, it lasts for hundreds of years.

Before humans started to produce much, this gas, naturally occurring, floats in the atmosphere, absorbs radiation, and decomposes through the resulting process at different times.
