In particular, one thing seems to be that the tool will not accept and expand two-factor authentication (2FA) to your account, but that’s what Instagram says “strongly” promotes. Earlier, the company announced sometime in the next few weeks that it would begin allowing people in other countries to use their WhatsApp number to verify their accounts. WhatsApp integration is similar to the SMS confirmation available on Instagram. Each time you want to sign in to your account, you have to enter the six-digit number set up on WhatsApp.

Later on the same blog page, Instagram also saw an increase in recent months of hackers trying to hide a lot of personal information from people such as their account passwords. “They can tell you that your account is in danger of being banned, that you are violating our intellectual property laws, or that your photos are being shared elsewhere,” the company said. “These messages are often fraudulent and violate our laws.” Instagram indicates if it needs to talk to you about your account, it will not send you a direct message. Instead, you will find any links from the company in the “Emails from Instagram” tab that are available in the app’s options.
